When a customer asked me what power adapter they should buy for their Roland FP-90X, I figured it’d be a quick lookup. A few minutes later, I was elbow-deep in Roland service manuals, product listings with conflicting voltage specs. Some sellers offered “compatible” power supplies at both 9V and 12V. (There’s some incorrect information on the internet—it’s true!) So I found some reference documents and built this simple lookup tool.

Using the power adapter tool
Just type in any Roland model number and instantly see the correct power adapter.
I’ve included links to the least expensive Roland branded power adapters I could find, variously from Roland, Sweetwater, Thomann, and B&H. I wasn’t able to find some international models, and those links won’t go anywhere—please contact me if you have decent suppliers.
It only starts searching after you’ve typed at least 2 characters. Dashes are ignored, so typing FP30X works the same as FP-30X. If there’s no match, it says so right away.
And while we’re at it, since you’re replacing your power adapter, you should seriously consider an insured surge protector!
Generic and universal adapters on Amazon
Do not buy generic power adapters unless you have no other choice. There are dozens of generic power adapters online that claim to work with your Roland keyboard or pedal. But if you care about the longevity of your instrument, don’t do it!
As a technician, I’ve worked on multiple keyboards that came in with dead main boards or strange behavior, only to find a sketchy adapter. Inexpensive power adapters can supply incorrect voltages, can get fire hot, or can cause ripple and oscillation. I’ve seen lousy power adapters, even when they “work,” introduce buzzing in the speakers and screen flickering. Don’t grab a $15 adapter on Amazon just because it fits in the hole. Buy the real thing!

If you’re struggling to find the right adapter, feel free to contact me, and I’ll do more research in the service manual for your particular model. I also have an article on common keyboard questions and answers here.
Current purchase links for common adapters
Here are my current purchase links for the ACN-120, PSB-1U, PSB-7U, PSB-4U, PSB-12U, PSA-230S, PSB-5U, PSB-14U, PSB-120, PSB-13U, and PSD-230.
Please note that the PSB-1U is the same adapter as the PSB-120 and the ACK-120. If you have either of these adapters, you can safely replace it with the PSB-1U.
If you’re searching for an ACN‑120 / PSB‑4U / PSB‑4UREPL, please see my article on the modern solution for replacing these discontinued adapters.
Similarly, if you’re searching for a PSB-3U, it has been replaced by the PSB-7U.
The PSB-18U is currently available only through Roland dealers. You’ll have to reach out to your nearest Roland dealer or service center to get one.
Some adapters ship with the wall power cord sold separately. If your instrument uses a fixed power cord (no external adapter), the lookup tool above is the best place to confirm.

Common 12V Roland adapters
Higher-current and specialty adapters
PSB-1U, PSB-120, and ACK-120
The PSB-1U is the same adapter as the PSB-120 and ACK-120. If your Roland instrument originally used one of those adapters, the PSB-1U is the current replacement to look for.
PSB-3U replacement
If you are searching for a Roland PSB-3U, it has been replaced by the PSB-7U.
PSB-18U availability
The PSB-18U is currently available only through Roland dealers. Contact your nearest Roland dealer or Roland service center to order one.
Important: Some Roland adapters ship with the wall power cord sold separately. If your instrument uses a fixed power cord instead of an external adapter, use the lookup tool above to confirm the correct part.

Hi – I am trying to find a power cord for a Roland KR 4500 digital piano. Does anyone have any idea where I can find one? I do not want to buy a generic one in case it isn’t compatible and damages the piano. Thank you.
Hello Claudine! The KR 4500 has an older, ungrounded, rectangular power cord. The most appropriate matching cord is this 2-prong cord from Syntaur. Note that although you can find other two prong power cords on places like Amazon, that rectangular shape is unusual. The cord from Syntaur will serve your purpose nicely!
Hi. I’ve been sitting on a Rodgers W-50 for a few years not knowing if it works. Only info the manual gives is that its 1200mA
Hello Michael! The service manual indicates the correct power adapter for the Rodgers W-50 is the ACK-120 (9.5 V 1500 mA). In Roland’s AC power adapter guide, they state this is replaced by the PSB-1U. However, this adapter is now also discontinued, and has been replaced with the PSB-120. You can purchase the modern-day PSB-120 from Sweetwater here. This is the same power adapter used by other popular keyboards, such as the Roland EP-9. Thank you!
