APS NoteCast Beta Sign Up: Send MIDI files using Bluetooth MIDI

Help test a simple Android app for sending MIDI files wirelessly using Bluetooth MIDI to player pianos and other MIDI instruments.

APS NoteCast is designed to make Bluetooth MIDI easier on Android. It lets you send MIDI files from an Android phone or tablet to devices such as a Yamaha Disklavier, player piano, digital piano, keyboard, or Bluetooth MIDI adapter.

This beta test helps prepare the app for public release on Google Play. Testers do not need a developer account. You only need the Google account you use with the Play Store.

Who should sign up?

  • You have an Android phone or tablet.
  • You can install apps from Google Play.
  • You have, or can test with, a Bluetooth MIDI device, MIDI keyboard, digital piano, or player piano.
  • Bonus: you use a CME WIDI Master, WIDI Jack, WIDI Uhost, WIDI Thru6, Yamaha Disklavier, Pianoforce, QRS, Roland, Yamaha, Casio, or Kawai instrument.

You do not need to be highly technical. A simple test is enough: install the app, connect to a MIDI device, send a MIDI file, and let me know what happened.

Recommended test

After installing APS NoteCast, try one simple MIDI file first. Connect to your Bluetooth MIDI device, start playback, and confirm whether the instrument receives the notes correctly.

Helpful feedback includes your Android device model, Android version, Bluetooth MIDI adapter, instrument model, and whether the app found and played through the device successfully.

Alternatives to Google Play?

The app is currently available as a separate APK, which can be side-loaded. You can download the APK from GitHub directly here. However, your testing in the Google Play ecosystem is very helpful to me, so please do consider downloading the app as part of an official test program!
