Unlike full E3 systems, the DKC-800 and DKC-850 piggybacked upgrades are powered by external AC adapters, such as the PJP-PS02. The original Yamaha Disklavier E3 installations use the Disklavier’s power supply, but these piggybacked installations require their own source of power.
I recently had a customer reach out to me using an aftermarket power adapter, and his DKC-800 would not power on. He later tried another adapter, and got it to work. But trying random power adapters dangerous!
The Original Power Adapter
The DKC-850 upgrade system shipped with the PJP-PS02 or PJP-PS04 power adapter. This is now discontinued. However, the replacement is Yamaha part number ZT935300. This newer adapter can be purchased from other suppliers: The model of power adapter is MU24-Y120200-A1. The easiest place to purchase is on Yamaha 24×7 or call (888) 892-6242.

Why Order the Genuine Yamaha Adapter?
Exact electrical spec. 12 V DC, ≥2 A, center-positive, 5.5 mm × 2.5 mm barrel—no guesswork. Trying random power adapters just because they fit is a poor policy.
Warranty integrity. Yamaha’s U.S. Disklavier warranty (see the official policy) allows only Yamaha-approved parts. A third-party brick can complicate future claims.
Protect Your New Adapter (and Piano) from Surges
A clean power brick won’t help if the AC line spikes. Pair the new ZT935300 with a properly sized surge suppressor to avoid future failures. Read my guide to surge protectors for Disklaviers to keep your piano—and its power supply—safe during storms and other electrical events.
