Johannes Brahms

Johannes Brahms (1833–1897) was a central figure of the Romantic era who combined emotional depth with rigorous Classical structure. Born in Hamburg and later settling in Vienna, Brahms was deeply influenced by the traditions of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, yet forged a personal voice marked by rich harmony, rhythmic complexity, and profound lyricism.

His output spans symphonies, concertos, chamber music, piano works, and choral masterpieces, all crafted with meticulous care and intellectual seriousness. Often introspective in character, Brahms’s music balances warmth and restraint, earning him a reputation as both a guardian of tradition and one of the most expressive composers of the 19th century.
