Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was one of the greatest composers in Western music and a master of the Baroque era. Renowned for his profound command of counterpoint, harmony, and musical architecture, Bach wrote works of extraordinary depth and clarity across nearly every genre of his time, including keyboard, orchestral, chamber, choral, and sacred music.
His compositions—such as The Well-Tempered Clavier, the Brandenburg Concertos, the Goldberg Variations, and his Passions—combine intellectual rigor with expressive power and spiritual intensity. Although his music was not widely celebrated during his lifetime, Bach’s influence on later composers has been unparalleled, and his works remain foundational to the study, performance, and understanding of music today.
